A decoration proposal for a resident of Bonaire is addressed to the Lieutenant Governor of the domicile of the person to be distinguished. The Lieutenant Governor sends the proposal with his advice to the Kingdom Representative for the public entities Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, located on the island of Bonaire. This Kingdom Representative will send the decoration proposal with his advice and the advice of the Lieutenant Governor concerned to the Chapter for the Civil Orders in The Hague. In the Netherlands, the proposal is dealt with as the procedure laid down in the Regulations for the Order of the Dutch Lion and the Order of Oranje-Nassau (Order Regulation). The Chapter for the Civil Orders gives a weighty recommendation to the minister who is concerned. At the moment this is the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. On the basis of the advice received, the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations decides whether a proposal to that effect will be made to His Majesty the King. In the award of the Royal decoration, the corresponding decoration with accessories is awarded by the Lieutenant Governor, the Kingdom Representative for the public bodies Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba or the Minister concerned.
